Patient Care Management Systems
The Patient Care Management Systems (PCMS) team is responsible for the management of a principal Electronic Patient Record application within
the SIMS Partnership. The team members guide and assist with application workflow configuration as well as maintenance, and on-going support of the application. This application is used by clinicians at multiple SIMS partner sites to perform a range of tasks including order management, result management, and patient data review. It is used by administration resources to perform patient and visit processing. This application is integrated with many other clinical and business applications.
Our Work
The Patient Care Management Systems team's primary responsibility includes screen and workflow configuration as well as 24/7 support of the Electronic Patient Record application for some of SIMS' partners. The average work day includes:
- Providing technical & 'how to' support to clinical and business users of the application;
- Assessing impact of problems on the business operations and escalating critical issues to management for attention;
- Working with team and end-users to investigate, analyze and implement fixes to reported problems and issues;
- Providing technical go-live support for new project implementation;
- Participating in the planning and execution of system testing , user acceptance testing and application performance testing activities;
- Performing business analysis and interpreting data into functional specifications and delivering customization changes;
- Assessing the impact of proposed changes to the business and supporting systems including any scheduled and unscheduled downtime to users;
- Preparing reports for management on application performance;
- 24/7 pager support.
As the administrators of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) application, PCMS works in conjunction with the following teams:

- Courtyard Group (Interface Engine)
- Data Security and Privacy Office
- Information Technology, Database, Engineering, Application & Switchboard Services ( IDEAS) ? Systems Integration and Application Database Support (ADS)

- Pharmacy Informatics
- Project Management Office (PMO)
- All clinical users: physicians, nurses, Allied Health Professionals, lab technicians, pharmacists, secretaries and ward clerks
