Accessibility Statement
Standards
The site is built to modern web standards and accessibility guidelines and has been validated by the following auto-checks:
- Every effort has been made to comply with the user checks as well to maximize accessibility and usability.
- The site validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional, and uses valid css.
Other accessibility features
- All font sizes are specified with relative units for easy resizing.
- By using your browser's text resizing feature under View > Text Size (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc), the text can be made smaller or larger, as needed.
- Semantic Markup
- All pages use structured semantic markup. For example on all pages, H1 tags are used for the Home Link in the top left corner, H2 tags for the Main heading in the content area, and H3 tags for the sub-topics within the content. JAWS users can skip to the main elements using ALT+INSERT+1 (H1 tags), ALT+INSERT+2 (H2 tags), and ALT+INSERT+3 (H3 tags).
- Link Titles & Icons
- Any link on the site that does not behave 'normally'(All 'normal' links switch between pages within the site.), has a title tag associated with it. All titles start with one of the three options: Link New Window, Link Anchor, or Link Email, followed by a description of that hyperlink. Link New Window, sends the user to a new page in a popup window with the original page still open in the browser below, Link Anchor, sends the user to a specified anchor point within the current page and Link Email, calls the users' default mail client.
- In addition, all non-normal links will have an icon to help visually associate the file type or link type used.
